Say Yes to Languages with Aurelie!
5th and 6th Class have had a wonderful opportunity to learn French through the Say Yes to Languages Programme. They have learned so much which will benefit them moving forward into secondary school and deciding on language subjects!
We would like to thank our French Tutor Aurelie for all her wonderful lessons over the last few weeks.

FAI Blitz!!
Well done to the Boys A soccer team on making it to the FAI Laois Finals in Killeshin FC on Wednesday 10th April. The boys played three games back-to-back, there was some tough competition but we held our own. Unfortunately, the results didn’t favour us but the boys played their hearts out. Well, done to all involved!!!
Playground Leaders
As part of the Active Schools Flag and working towards our Active Flag we have implemented our Playground Leaders. Twice a week 5th and 6th class set up active stations on the yard during the junior end lunchtime. Pupils enjoy this as they get to interact with others and they can also learn from one another. Our stations are chosen by the Active Flag Committee, some of our stations have included: skipping, racing, over/under ball game, red light green light, duck duck goose, hoop throws and many more. Take a look at the huge smiles during Playground Leaders time…

Healthy Lunchbox Competition!
The school has been looking at healthy eating and we were looking at what a healthy lunchbox might look like! Ms Buggie had a fantastic idea to run a competition to encourage all the children and staff to think about healthy lunches. The children had a few weeks to design and enter their idea of what a healthy lunch would look like. Last Wednesday on St. Valentine’s Day our winner was picked. Ms Buggie and her independent judges were torn over the entries, and 10 very lucky children were picked. Congratulations all and well done to everyone who entered.

5th and 6th Class turned on their science brains this week as they were learning all about matter. They learned about the properties and particles of liquids, solids and gases. We decided to make oobleck in school to see oobleck as a liquid and a solid. The children had great fun and loved experimenting! Check out Maryborough’s future scientists below!
