Maryborough’s Fittest Family Event!!!
On Wednesday the 8th of May, we had a whole school event called ‘Maryborough’s Fittest Family’. All the children completed a daily run together to warm up for the event. Six families from the school took part in the event. Each family completed 4 exercises at 5 minutes each. These exercises ranged from relays, weight-lifting, obstacles and team work activities. The wonderful families that took part were Team Bennett, Team Dempsey, Team Adams, Team Percy, Team Smullen and Team Marum who all performed wonderfully throughout the event! Check out pictures of the Teams in action below. It was a fantastic event for all involved and we had terrific support from children and parents. Thanks to Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise for letting us borrow their weights for the event! A big thank you to the wonderful 5th and 6th Class who used both initiative and teamwork to organise the event! Another big thank you to Naomi and Darren who are parents in the school and who kindly sponsored the prizes and the shield. We hope to make it an annual event! We were very lucky to be joined by Martin and Kate McDonald from Ireland’s Fittest Family and we loved their advice on the importance of being active! A big Congratulations to Team Dempsey who were this year’s Maryborough’s Fittest Family!
