School News –May 2022

This month was the greatest of months!!!! The 5th and 6th Class girls won the Cumann na mBunscol Championship in O’Moore Park on the 27th of April. The girls played exceptionally well and showed off their talent in GAA Skills and Teamwork. Megan Adams-Captain of the team gave a beautiful speech thanking everyone involved and lifted the cup for the team!! 1st for 6th Class walked down wearing their blue and white to support the team. They were the best supporters! A HUGE well done to the girls of Maryborough NS on their win-History has been made!!! We are very proud of them here in Maryborough.

It is Active Schools week and Maryborough is an active school so the children will be partaking in various activities throughout the week. Hockey has started for all of the classes with Emmett from Hockey Ireland and we are thrilled to be learning new skills. Zumba is starting up in mid-May for the senior classes-the children are really looking forward to this! Miss Handcock will take each of the classes this week for various games and activities to celebrate Active Week!

Artists in schools has kicked off in the 5th and 6th Classroom. Aisling Hennessey a local Laois Artist has started some wonderful Art Projects with the children which will be showcased very soon. The children are really enjoying this as it gives them a break from the heavy content of the curriculum and it supports their well-being and mental health.

Ms Gow’s Tidy Up Team will start back on the 3rd of May to further make our school look great! Any parent who wishes to get involved-please contact Ms Gow or Jane Blood the Chairperson of The Parent’s Association. Every little helps!

We are all thrilled to be in Term 3 now of school. We look forward to all the fun activities that term 3 holds and hopefully the nice sunshine! Sports, activities and tours is what Term 3 is all about and we look forward to keeping you all updated as to what we get up to in Term 3.

A HUGE thank you to all the parents and school community for supporting our big win in GAA. It is much appreciated.

We pray this month for sunshine, happiness and courage for our last term together.
