School News –November 2022

All the pupils have settled back nicely into their school routine.

Each class drew and coloured Harvest pictures for our rector Alec where he displayed them in the Church of Ireland tent at the Ploughing Championships. The children really enjoyed this artistic contribution.

5th and 6th Class have started playing GAA Football again in the Cumann na mBunscol league. They have been busy training and playing matches against other schools around Laois. They are representing the school brilliantly and we wish them all the best of luck in the rest of their matches. The finals hope to be held towards the end of the month.

Miss Buggie would like to announce to the Parish that the opening day for Applications for incoming Junior Infants for the year 2023-2024 is open on Monday 3rd of October. All details are available on the ‘School Admissions’ tab on our website-Maryborough National School.

3rd to 5th Class have been learning some wonderful tunes on their tin whistle and recorder over the last few weeks where they showcase their talent at our assembly every Friday. We are all so impressed with the musical talent and we look forward to seeing how they progress over the year. Thank you to Mr Healy who puts a lot of his time into Music for the children. We had a special performance by a boy in 3rd Class who played the keyboard. We were all stunned at his fantastic musical abilities and we are very lucky to have such talented musicians here in our school.

We hope to have a musical performance by all of the children around Christmas time in the Church where the children can perform what they have been working very hard on in school. We will announce details of this nearer to the time-It will be worth waiting for! All will be invited!

We would like to thank the Jones family and in particular Kenneth Jones for the timber work and tiered beds he added to our beautiful garden. We hope to have the ‘Garden Club’ up and running in the next few weeks where Ms Gow will organise this with the pupils. They are all very excited to learn about gardening and maintaining our beautiful garden in our school.

We would also like to send a massive thank you to Alec and the Parish for their kind donation towards the purchasing of Special Needs Resources in our school. We appreciate it very much and we are so grateful.
