School News –October 2022

A HUGE Welcome back to all the pupils, staff and parents of Maryborough National School. It was so lovely to see beaming, young and enthusiastic children come through the doors. All of the children have settled nicely back into school in their new classrooms with their teachers and friends. Everyone is thankful to have routine back in their daily lives.

We had our first Assembly on the 2nd of September where 5th and 6th Class read prayers that they each wrote to pray to God for the year ahead. The children really enjoyed composing their own prayers and they wrote them dependent on what is relevant to them in their lives. It was great to see Rev. Alec back in our school too and we really look forward to the year ahead with him.

We have 10 lovely new Junior Infants who started with us in Maryborough and we wish them many years of fun learning and enjoyment here in Maryborough NS.

We hope to start up some GAA Coaching in the coming weeks in school where the children will get a chance to learn GAA football and hurling skills as part of the PE Curriculum and for their enjoyment. We know that the children will really enjoy this.

As we prepare for the ‘Harvest’ festival that soon approaches. Rev. Alec has asked the boys and girls of Maryborough NS to create picture about Harvest in connection with the Ploughing Championships using different art materials. We, in Maryborough are delighted with the challenge and we look forward to producing masterpieces as we learn about and celebrate Harvest time in the coming weeks.

We would like to welcome a new teacher to our school this year-Miss Bríd Delahunty who will be teaching the lovely 1st and 2nd Class until Christmas. We look forward to welcoming Miss Delahunty into our school and we hope she enjoys her time teaching with us here in Maryborough.

We look forward to engaging in a safe, happy and fun term 1 in school and we are grateful for all the lovely activities we have to enjoy in school. We take a moment to thank Jesus for being the first teacher in our lives and we look forward to learning more about him and what he did for us all.
