Fun in the Sun!!
Fun in the Sun
Junior pupils have been enjoying the sunshine recently. We went on a summer hunt exploring the animals and plants that we have on our fabulous campus. We also played in our lovely green area and we have enjoyed creating pictures on the yard with chalk. Everyone is so relaxed, long may the sunshine last.
Persuasive Writing
Persuasive Writing
Senior Infant pupils have been working really hard on their persuasive writing recently! After much deliberation they have decided to write to our principal Ms Buggie asking to change our uniform to their pyjamas. They came up with some great reasons and they have persuaded me! We await the reply from management…
Buddy Reading!!
Buddy Reading
Ms Handcock’s and Ms Fitzgerald’s classes started buddy reading back in January. It is a great opportunity to introduce new vocabulary to the infants and to practice their reading. It gives the senior room the opportunity to be leaders and helpers among the junior classes. It helps to keep them connected and the junior room really enjoy having the “big kids” help them with their reading. Have a look below at some of the fabulous reading happening.
Fantastic February!!
Fantastic February in Ms.Handcock’s Restaurant
Our Play Session theme for the month of February was The Restaurant. Pupils learned about the different jobs in our local community, they created their favourite meals using playdough and paint, they built restaurants and they even created their own restaurant serving each other. It truly was delicious, catch all the action below!!
Mindful Meditation in Infants!
Mindful Meditation
Junior and Senior Infant pupils have been learning all about how Mindful Meditation can help them focus more in class. They have been loving Belly Breathing, Bubble Bounce (mindful looking), Rainbow Relaxation and Visualisation. See below for some very engaged and interested pupils.
World Book Day in 1st & 2nd Class
We began our celebrations of World Book Day in 1st and 2nd Class with a table quiz. Junior and Senior Infants joined us for some fun. The competition was fierce and each team showed their book expertise by answering questions on characters from famous books.
We designed book vouchers for a World Book Day competition and shared our favourite book with our classmates. Dog-man is pretty popular at the moment! We are looking forward to the Book Fair and Dress-up Day next week. There will be a prize for the student in 1st and 2nd class with the best homemade costume!
Don’t forget to visit https://www.worldbookday.com/families/ for some ideas on how to celebrate World Book Day at home.
November Fun!!
The Three Little Pigs
During the month of November our theme was houses and homes. This involved building houses from recycled materials, learning about the different types of homes and learning about the story The Three Little Pigs. Pupils listened to the story, generated questions about the story, sequenced the story and then made puppets so that they could recreate the story. Below are pictures of the pupils recreating the story of The Three Little Pigs.
Autumn Fun
During October, pupils in Ms. Handcock’s class were learning all about Autumn. Pupils learned about the changes in plants and animals during Autumn- leaves falling from the trees, animals gathering food for their impending hibernation, and farmers harvesting their crops for wintertime. Pupils made hedgehogs from potatoes, they created acorns with playdough, and they made prints with leaves. Pupils used lovely autumn colours such as brown, red, green, and yellow.
