School News – September 2021

Another start to a great new school year here in Maryborough. The children were bursting with excitement when the doors opened on the 30th of August for all pupils. The children were excited to start in their new classes and meet their new teachers. They have all settled back wonderfully!

We give a huge welcome to our new 10 pupils in Junior Infants this year and we hope they have many years of fantastic learning ahead of them in Maryborough National School. We also give a huge welcome to our two new staff members here in Maryborough-Ms Sarah Handcock who is the new Junior and Senior Infant teacher and Mr Rory Healy who is the new 3rd and 4th Class teacher. We wish them all the best in Maryborough National School and we really hope they enjoy their time with us.

September is always a busy month-new routines, new teachers, new pupils and new learning. We must all remember that change is good for us and we must gradually move with the change in order to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of education and school life. All staff and children are very hopeful and positive about the year ahead. September reminds us of the theme ‘New Beginnings’ and we are thankful that we get to experience them together in our bubble of learning.

On Friday 3rd of September we held our first school Assembly for this year. We sang some beautiful songs and we had a visit from Rev. Alec who will visit us once a week to share our Assembly time together. We all gathered outside in our beautiful garden and social distanced. Long may the dry weather last! 5th and 6th Class presented group projects based on an image they drew that they associate with ‘New Beginnings’ and explained their choice. We had images of sunsets, friendships, baby animals and plant life-all symbolising new beginnings for the year ahead. Well done 5th and 6th Class on your hard work!

We finished our Assembly with ‘The Lord’s Prayer’- praying for a healthy and happy year ahead!
